I have spent more than five years in Goa. Long enough to shed the feeling of being a tourist in Goa. A couple of weeks back, on a sunday afternoon, we visited an eatery on the recommendation of a friend who had lived in Goa all her life. It had the reputation of serving good fish-curry rice. Coconut is an ingredient for any dish in Goa but each eatery has a different way to cook up its own recipe of fish-curry rice. The eatery recommended to us was located just before the Zuari bridge, and below the highway from Margao-Panjim. There was no other man-made structure anywhere around it and it was well-hidden from the highway by greenery the slope that led down to it. Fish-curry rice in such an interesting location was inviting for a lazy sunday afternoon.
We parked our car well before the slope leading to the eatery not knowing if there would be any place to park the car at the end of the slope. We walked down the slope and reached the small hut with a few tables a few of which were filled with lazy customers enjoying a sunday lunch. I raised my eyes from the tables towards the end of the hut which opened up a view to the river. The view was amazing. The hut was just 20 m away from the river with the thickly forested hills forming the background.
When a sight as beautiful as the one that we set our eyes on comes out of the blue, the feeling leaves one speechless and grappling for words to describe it.
Goa gives a chance to discover hidden spots by the sea, rivers and hills. It also gives a chance to discover interesting lanes. Goa is for those are explorers in heart and mind. Those who like the joy of discovering a new and interesting place.
